Plumbase Ltd have been Brighton Sign Company’s largest customer for many years with an annual spend in excess of £100K. We served Lumley & Hunt, a local plumbing & heating merchant and retailer, for many years in the 80s and early 90s – they were then purchased by Bradleys who introduced the Plumbase brand.
Branches were re-branded as Bradleys Plumbase and Lumleys Plumbase, the signs being mainly back-lit acrylic at this time. We carried out all the sign work at around 16 branches around London and the south east.
The group (part of Grafton plc) began to expand rapidly in the late nineties with new sites and acquisitions. Notable amongst the acquisitions were Essex Plumbing & Heating Supplies (22 branches throughout mainly Norfolk & Suffolk), Thompsons (24 branches in the West Country) and Edwards (branches all over the midlands).
With new sites being opened at the same time at the rate of at least one a month, the branch total was soon well over the hundred mark . We are proud to say that all sign and display work was installed by BSC.
Signage for a typical branch comprises two or three internally illuminated flex-face signs with digitally printed skins, 6m x 1.2m being a common size but often much larger, along with sundry ancillary signs and displays, banners, pavement signs etc.
The group has continued to expand into the new millennium and now includes Plumbline, a group of companies with branches all over Scotland, now rebranded in the Plumbase image.
The branch total now numbers around three hundred and we are pleased to say they continue to use our services.
