Brighton Sign Company was established in 1984, originally operating from a workshop premises in Dyke Road Mews. A broad range of sign types were offered, based mainly on computer-cut vinyl (new technology at the time!), Perspex lettering and some traditional techniques. In 1991 a Sign Shop was added in a small retail unit opposite the workshop mews – this became a popular “stop and chat” point for many local sigmakers!

In 1995 the company took over / merged with BM Signs Ltd, a long established (1964) traditional sign company and for the next five years we operated from the Station Road, Portslade premises. Bob Elsey, who founded BM Signs, retired in March 2002.

Andy Doull of Sign Fabrications joined us in 1998. This was a small local company offering a high standard of work, predominantly acrylic signs and letters.

The company moved to the present factory premises in April 2000. This has afforded us the space (4,500 sq ft), to expand the business as well as allowing us to operate with a great deal more efficiency due to the highly convenient location, our own parking etc.

This, along with our melting pot of expertise and skills has proved successful over the years and the company has become one of the largest sign manufacturers in the area.

Gordon Eaton, the Managing Director, decided to move on to pastures new in 2008 and sold the business to Sussex Sign Company. This was a decision not lightly taken after so many years but Gordon was impressed by the Sussex Sign Company dynamic approach and successful track record, so felt that his ‘baby’ was going to a good home. The group also includes Milterbest screen and digital printers, another long-established local company which was acquired in 2005.

Please take a look at some of our case studies and portfolio to see what we have achieved.
